Amsterdam Nautical Museum

Off to the Nautical Museum to go play on the Amsterdam, a replica of a VOC East Indiaman Ship.

Dave is that really a good idea…

…especially given who is at the other end!

You’ll never be able to steer the ship with Stuart just hanging around. You need to pull the ropes to move the rudder.

On the hunt for hidden silver. Is it amongst the barrels?

In amongst the crates?

Dave, that’s where the poop goes, let’s not look down there.

We rule the upper decks.

Dave’s got a long climb if he wants to be the lookout.

Cologne

famous for it’s Cathedral.’

Cologne is not famous for Berliners (Donuts) but we got some anyway. We’ve never been know to turn down donuts; even when our stomachs are fit to burst.

Wuppertal Elevated Railway

The Wuppertal Elevated Railway runs over the river Wupper in Germany. It’s got Jorge quite excited.

He’s never seen anything quite like it. Don’t fall in whilst you’re staring at the sky.

Riding along high over the river; it swings when it goes around corners.

Weee!

At the western end it runs over the street rather than over the river. Time to go; Stuart’s hungry.

Finally the “Spacific”

Dave finds a Gopher at Pescadero.

Then we’re there; after 16 days we finally reach the Spacific Ocean.

Dave, Stuart and Jorge would like to thank all the people that have looked after them over the last two weeks.

Stuart now due a bath having rolled in some maple syrup at breakfast and then they’re off on their travels again, Scotland, Amsterdam and Stockholm beckon.

Big trees

Butano State Park contains lots of big costal redwood trees. Some of these trees are the tallest in the world; but a lot seem to have fallen over.

Which means lots of great climbing opportunities…

…on our long walk around the creek trail.

4 on the Richter scale

Having eaten all the breakfasts when Stuart fell over on the San Andreas fault it measured 4 on the Richter scale  in downtown San Francisco and the earth moved 2 meters. That fence was originally joined together!

What’s more worrying is that Mountain Lions might mistake small fat yellow minions for a tasty snack. That’s if the poison oak, snakes or ticks don’t get them first.
