Up North

Chasing around the ornaments is great fun…
…until Jorge gets stuck!

With Jorge free a quick check on the weather

Then off to Driffield Steam fair.

Stuart is now covered in sooty smuts and needs a wash. Two washes in under a week; unheard of.

Banoffe Pie

Stuart is guarding the bananas to make sure that nobody eats them; other than him of course!
They were supposed to be for Banoffee Pie; but Stuart appears to have skipped the toffee and pie parts and gone straight for the bananas.

Goodbye Malaysia

Time to wave goodbye to Malaysia.
Dave smiled sweetly and snaffled an upgrade.

All the buttons to make the seat go up and down.

Fold it flat to snooze. There is even a blindfold to block out the light.

Penang Hill

Dave catches the funicular railway to the top of Penang Hill.
The view over Penang from the top.
Don’t get too close to the edge Dave!

Sunset over Penang

Dave gets to drive the original funicular railway car from 1923. Jorge will be envious.

Penang by night, all the lights twinkling below.

The Monkey Hunt

There are Monkeys  on Penang Hill.
It’s a jungle out there but Dave can’t see any Monkeys.

A quick rest on the long hunt. Little legs get tired fast.

That is not a Monkey; that’s a postbox.

That is not a monkey either; that’s Dave swinging on a vine.

Dave did see a monkey but it was to far up a tree to photograph. The bats Dave saw moved to fast to photograph and the black squirrels were pretty quick too!

Clan Jetties

The clan jetties are small communities built on stilts over the water.

There’s a water taxi rank at the end, although Dave is struggling to flag one down.

It’s a real maze of haphazard houses.

There’s also a funny smell. Dave suspects that the poop goes straight through a hole in the floor and into the sea!
