Hearst Castle

William Randolph Hearst built this mock Spanish village on a hill in the middle of nowhere. It’s a big ol’ place.

Inside the rooms are decorated with antiques shipped over from Europe.

Stuart has, unsurprisingly, found dinner.

Outside the gardens cover the top of the hill.

The tiles make a cool slide. Don’t worry Jorge; Dave will catch you…

…maybe.

Finally the pool.

Morro Bay

The bed is easily big enough for three and so wide that Stuart’s snoring doesn’t even wake Dave.Morro bay is named after the rock in the bay that was thought to look like a Moorish Turban.

It’s misty along the coastline and the wind is pushing in the waves.

Getty Museum

Today’s visit is to the Getty museum; a complex of buildings looking out across Los Angeles.

Dave is a little concerned about the number of cacti. He’s been scared of cacti ever since the incident.

Unfortunately the water features have been turned off due to the Californian drought.

The boys have a plan to restart this water feature; they’re just going to line up against this wall and…

….now it’s running freely!
There was even some art; but Stuart couldn’t be persuaded to go see it so they went to the gardens instead.

Universal Studios

Stuart heads straight for Super Silly Fun Land.
On the back-lot tour there are some familiar faces.

Dinosaurs lurk in the undergrowth but you have to look really carefully to see them.

Look out Dave it’s a flood!

 Shark!

Stuart at Hogwarts

Time to get out of here; via the gift shop of course.

The Queen Mary

We’re here; after 14hrs of travel we’ve finally found a boat.
It’s a long way to the cabin and the passageway curves upwards!
Wood panelling from the 1930’s.
Time to get some sleep
