West India Dock Impounding Station

Today Dave is visiting the Impounding Station at the West India Docks.
They call the control “The Frog” because the dials look a big like the eyes on a frog.

Big electric motors turn pumps to move water from The River Thames into the dock to maintain the water level in the dock.

This is the impeller that sits at the heart of the pump; this is an old one that was removed after eighty years although it’s still servicable.

Here’s all the water being pumped through to top up the water levels in the dock.
